The Taste of the Year 2022 Competition: Sweet Symphony

THE TENTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE EUROPEAN ARTISANAL GELATO DAY, WHICH IS CELEBRATED EVERY YEAR ON 24 MARCH, WILL SEE THE BEST MASTER GELATO MAKERS OF THE OLD CONTINENT COMPETE IN A TWO-STAGE CONTEST – AT THE MIG IN LONGARONE AND AT THE SIGEP IN RIMINI -, TO SIGN THE RECIPE OF THE TASTE OF THE YEAR 2022: "SWEET SYMPHONY".

A peculiarity of Gelato Day is the "Flavor of the Year", offered on March 24 in all the ice cream parlors participating in the Day. For the tenth edition of Gelato Day it will be "Sweet Symphony", a variant of chocolate and hazelnut-based ice cream, but, if traditionally the Flavour of the Year is selected every year by a different European country, for this special tenth anniversary edition, it will be the master ice cream makers from all over Europe who will decide the recipe, challenging each other in the new European competition organized by Artglace, in collaboration with Longarone Fiere Dolomiti and Italian Exhibition Group (IEG).

The participation is free and open to all gelato makers in Europe, called upon to propose their own interpretation of hazelnut and chocolate-based ice cream, enriching the recipe with ingredients from their own territory: the First Selection is scheduled for Monday 29 November, from 11.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m., on the occasion of the 61st MIG at Longarone Fiere Dolomiti (28 November – 1 December 2021), while the second phase will take place on Monday January 24, 2022 on the occasion of the 43rd Sigep at IEG's Rimini fair (22-26 January). The Jury will be chaired by the President of Artglace and composed of four members chosen from among professionals in the sector: the qualitative verification and evaluation of the aesthetics of the tray will be followed by the evaluation of the works based on four parameters, fundamental and in order of importance, namely taste, structure, originality of the recipe and, finally, aesthetics of the tray. The winner will be rewarded Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at 11.00 a.m. at Sigep in Rimini, and will sign the recipe for Taste of the Year 2022, "Dolce Sinfonia".
