Description
The history of Jakó Confectionery dates back to 1977: this was the year when Lajos Jakó and his wife opened their first confectionery in Kiskőrös. This confectionery was still on the outskirts of the city, because according to the legislation of the time, only a shop could be opened in an unsupplied area. Since ÁFÉSZ had a store in the city center, the permit was only granted for the operation of the store on the outskirts of the city.
Initially, there were two people working in the confectionery: Lajos Jakó and his wife Anna. The small shop gained great popularity among the locals in a short time. In 1982, the second Jakó Confectionery was opened, which was already located in the heart of Kiskőrös, in Petőfi Sándor Street.
In 1987, the hospitality of Kiskörös was expanded with a pleasant place again, because the third Jakó Confectionery was opened in the central ABC store. At that time, the company already employed 10 people. In 1990, the enterprise got a great opportunity with the opening of a small ice cream parlor in the center of Kecskemét. At that time, not only Lajos Jakó, but also his wife Anna had a master degree in confectionery. While her husband managed the ice cream parlor in Kecskemét, and from 1991 the grocery store next to it, Anna managed the three confectioneries in Kiskőrös. At that time, the properties in Kecskemét were still the property of Bács-Konzum Rt. and the family only had the right to rent.
After the liquidation of Bács-Konzum Rt. in 1996, the business premises in Petöfi Sándor Street in Kecskemét were purchased, as well as a former TSZ building on the outskirts, where a bakery and confectionery were set up.
In the autumn of 1998, the conversion of the TSZ building into a residential house was completed for the family next to the Kecskemét plant, so the family closed the confectioneries in Kiskörös and moved them to Kecskemét.
By 2002, the confectionery in Kecskemét had outgrown the small ice cream parlour and now has a high-quality initial interior of 80 m2, the dear guest welcomed. By 2003, this place also proved to be small, so with further expansion, the store in Kecskemét grew to nearly 160m2. At that time, the Jakó Confectionery was expanded with the Anna Café section and thus became suitable for accommodating and serving up to 110 people. Lajos Jakó, his wife Anna, their two daughters Bea and Rita and nearly 60 employees have been providing kind and polite service and the authentic flavors of Jakó Confectionery ever since. During the operation of the company, he educated and taught several students a year in the demanding and loving confectionery profession. In September 2003, according to the decision of the jury members of the Dobos Award, Jakó Confectionery won the Dobos C. József Award, which is provided with a patronage plaque.
Between 2003 and 2011, Lajos Jakó was the president of the Bács-Kiskun County Confectionery Association, then he was a member of the executive board of the National Chamber of Trades.
He received several awards from the Hungarian National Gastronomic Association. He is the owner of the Medal of Merit for Gastronomy jury plaque, and has been a jury member at several national and international competitions. He received the title of master confectioner, and in 2008 he was elected vice-president of the Hungarian National Gastronomic Association. Since 2009 he has been a member of the First Hungarian Order of the White Table.
In the spring of 2011, he opened his second shop in Kecskemét, which is a special meeting of a stylish restaurant and confectionery.
Több évtizedes, eredményes munkája elismeréseképpen 2012-ben a VOSZ Bács-Kiskun megyei Szervezete az "ÉV cukrásza" címet adományozta a már VENESZ-díjas cukrász mesternek.
